Alex is, first and foremost, a fighter. Even after seeing her family killed, her home burnt, and had herself sold into prostitution as a young teenager, she keeps fighting, even managing to save herself despite the drug addiction they forced on her. Until Nikita, she wasn't thriving, but after the help, Alex regains her footing, and instead of returning to a normal life, she decides to go after the people who ordered the hit on her parents. No matter the situation, she fights.

This doesn't come without a cost as Alex is also very walled off, a defense tactic she's picked up to handle the pain in her life. On occasion, they do drop and we see a different side to her, but she considers them an important asset. Few people know about her past until the end, when she finally begins to heal enough and decides to use her experience to help people in similar situations. Even Amanda notes the depth of Alex's defenses, and unlike many other aspects, we see this even when she's outside of Division.

Beneath the walls is someone who never had a chance to be a normal teenager. Despite her capabilities, she can become very excitable and is prone to easy joking. Alex isn't above calling Nikita 'Sensei', growing excited when she manages to track someone using unique methods, or gush about a new walkman. This often causes people to remember her young age when compared to most of the cast.

Even further buried in her defenses is a vulnerability. The most drastic examples are easy to find, such as when she has a panic attack when she sees fire or when Amanda is able to brainwash her, but there are other hints as well. Alex doesn't like to be called Alexandra, as she wants to separate herself from her past. She does grow to accept things at the end, once she's finally able to heal.

In spite of her horrific past, Alex is a kind and spirited girl who is willing to sacrifice herself to save others, especially Nikita. She believes in doing what is right, even when it's not what's easy, keeping sight of that goal even when Nikita nearly loses it. Even if it means fighting with her best friend, the person she loves most in the world, she'll stand up for her beliefs.

Taking a page from Nikita's book, Alex is prone to dress fashionably when not dressing for a mission or training. Her hair goes through several different styles with varying lengths, but she generally keeps it long. While she doesn't fully dye her hair, she sometimes adds lighter/blonde streaks. Her eyes can see seen as striking.
